Radio club

The Sacramento Mountains Radio Club is open to all who have their ham radio license, or are in the process of getting one. Anyone interested in obtaining a license can get instruction in a class and taking a test.

We meet on the second Sunday of each month at the JCVFD at 2:00 p.m.

Our purpose is to promote ham radio in the community for several purposes:

  1. Have fun …communication with other ham operators, locally, and world wide.
  2. To support our community in any disaster, such as fire, flood, or road closures, search and rescue. ARES=Amateur Radio Emergency Services.
  3. There are members of the VFD who are also ham operators. If a fire channel from the county is inoperable, then communication between the Fire dept. which has been deployed can be relayed through a ham operator to the County.
